Always Been Here
Always been here is a series of events that calls on all of us to deeply reflect on and recognise our unconscious biases and prejudices. To be more aware of our different power relations, established practices and habits, and how these affect our encounters with others is needed to create more peace in our communities near and far. Always been here includes several events such as, a seminar about coloniality in Finland, an exhibition about the history of language and cultural minorities in the Oulu area, an event on the Roma national day, a photo exhibition about the Africans in Oulu Festival, an exhibition sharing stories about the relationship to nature told by people who have migrated to Oulu, different dialogue sessions, and an exhibition about “feeling at home” and two social media campaigns: a campaign that amplifies the voices of Roma people, including Roma traditions and presents and a campaign around the meaning of names. The events take place in public spaces. All events have free admission.
