In May, the Mobile Futures consortium gathered in the beautiful surroundings of Hailuoto for our annual retreat, hosted by our colleagues at the University of Oulu.
The retreat gave us an opportunity to reflect on the research and collaboration accomplished so far, while also looking ahead to the final phase of the project. Through group discussions, we planned upcoming policy briefs, our final seminar, and the next opportunities to share our research—including the ETMU Conference in November, organised by the Mobile Futures project.
Alongside productive discussions, we also had time to enjoy Hailuoto’s unique nature, take a refreshing dip in the sea, and unwind in a traditional smoke sauna. On our final day, we visited Villa Victor in Oulu, where we learned more about its wide range of activities supporting international residents. Mobile Futures collaborates with Villa Victor through its weekly coffee clubs, making the visit a fitting way to conclude our retreat.
As summer begins, we wish all our partners, colleagues and followers a relaxing and enjoyable summer. We look forward to continuing our work together in the autumn!
